The MARJORIE MOXON maternity unit is being built in Alemere Medical Aid Uganda Community Health Center in Amolatar district local government, Northern Uganda. Pregnant mothers in the local community can now give birth safely in a medical facility being supported by midwives. This will help us save many lives of mothers and children who could have died due to medical complications during labour. We would like to thank Marjorie Moxon, Christian African Relief Trust and our supporters for making the donations to construct Marjorie Moxon Maternity Unit.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), most pregnancies and childbirths are not planned in Northern Uganda. On average, women in Uganda have five children, but in rural areas they have many more. Only about 27% of women use a modern form of contraception.  

WHY ARE WE BUILDING A MATERNITY UNIT AT ALEMERE

In Uganda, women suffer a lot due to shortages in the delivery of maternal healthcare services due to limited healthcare facilities which deprive women of the opportunity to safely deliver (WHO, UNICEF 2015) One in 30 babies dies in the first month of life in Uganda. Every day, 15 women die in Uganda from pregnancy and childbirth-related causes and Uganda has one of the highest mortality rates in the world (WHO, UNICEF 2015). Every woman deserves to give birth in a decent, clean and safe environment and that is why Medaid United Kingdom ?? with the support from our partner CART and our supporters is building Majorie Moxon Maternity unit at Alemere Medical Uganda ?? Community Health Centre In Amolatar District Northern Uganda. The building has reach roofing level and we need money to complete it.

Impact of our work

The photographs are   MARJORIE MOXON MATERNITY UNIT. In one month’s time, the maternity unit will be completed and children and patients will receive treatment in a decent and clean environment. The construction of this maternity unit has been possible because of the donations given by the families of Marjorie Moxon, Burkinshaw, supporters of #Christian African Relief Trust,  BOSCENO Enterprise, and our supporters.

The maternity unit is in need of the following equipment and medical supplies to offer quality healthcare services to children and patients: 2 delivery beds, 20 postnatal beds, 20 baby’s coaches, 2 babies weighing scale, 20 mattresses, 3 resuscitation equipment, essential medicine, 40 mosquitoes nets, 4 telescopes, 4 build sucker for babies, 50 bedsheets, 50 blankets, 20 counter pans, 3 oxygen cylinders, 2 sterilizers, 6 trolleys, 2 examination beds, 2 refrigerators, sets of delivery instruments, 4 stethoscopes, 2 blood pressure machine, and solar panel.

We now need to raise £12,800 to buy the above medical equipment, medical supplies, and solar panel. We will appreciate any donation in kind for the above equipment and supplies.
